Michael Conlan fought a smart and calculated fight against fellow Irishman TJ Doheny at Falls Park in Belfast, Ireland. Conlan was able to pull away with a unanimous decision in a convincing win for the belt. He overwhelmed Doheny with successful body shots and was in control right from the start. The fifth round was a big one for Conlan as he sent Doheny to the floor with an onslaught of body shots. Although Doheny was able to recover from the knockdown, Conlan never gave up his momentum and kept the fight in his favor.
Conlan has made it clear that he would like the winner of Brandon Figueroa vs. Stephen Fulton, “I’m still looking to fight the winner of Brandon Figueroa vs. Stephen Fulton. Now my options open up even more because I’m an interim champion in the featherweight division. I like the McGregor thing of holding two belts over two weights, I wouldn’t mind doing both.”
