Nonito Donaire and Naoya Inoue first met in the ring in November of 2019 and gave us a night full of action and entertainment. It was a fight that went above and beyond the expectations of the boxing world and satisfied even the casual spectator. Both fighters worked tirelessly that night, showing their immense talent and dedication to their craft. Inoue was able to edge out the decision on the judges’ score cards, but Donaire landed some incredibly hard shots that left Inoue with a fractured nose and a cracked eye ridge.
If the rematch does get made, it’s likely that we will be treated to another great, action-packed night. According to Bob Arum, if negotiations take place the fight will target a November or December date. He said, “That is a good possibility. But you have to understand that with Inoue, we follow the lead of Honda. So, again, they talked to me about the possibility of doing Donaire in Japan, so we’ll see.”
