Sweet Potatoes

The great thing about this Thanksgiving staple is that there are plenty of healthy options that still taste bomb and are easy to make. Simply cut up the sweet potatoes up in cubes, toss them in olive oil, salt, and pepper and oven roast until tender for a guilt-free alternative. If you miss the sweet nostalgia of your Auntie’s brown sugar-glaze or marshmallow melted topping, blend up pineapple and honey and pour over the top of them. Thank us later.

This classic Thanksgiving sauce is a super fruit packed with fiber to keep digestion on the reg and blood sugars stable while giving you a daily dose of antioxidants. Plus, the added Vitamin C will help you ward off sickness and boosts your immune system during flu season.

Pumpkin is much more than just the filling of your Thanksgiving dessert. It’s actually a low-calorie fruit that is rich in fiber and full of vitamins A and C, which support your immune system, muscle recovery and give you sharper vision. Try using the versatile squash as a soup or a pudding if you want a pumpkin pie substitute.

Beets are a great side dish that can help balance out an indulgent Thanksgiving plate. The root plant is naturally rich in nitrates, which helps dilates blood vessels that pump more blood and oxygen to working muscles. You can roast them with the likes of sweet potatoes and pumpkin, but we prefer them with a nice holiday season salad with slices of grapefruit and topped with rosemary.
