Keith Thurman threw the first big shot at Manny Pacquiao during yesterday’s media session at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Making his entrance to the tune of “We Ready” by Archie Eversole, the undefeated former world champion played the villain to a pro-Pacquiao crowd, calling the match a “big fight with a little fighter.” Pacquiao retorted that he’d heard those “useless words” before.
Thurman has been on the aggressive side for the fight’s build-up. Just a day before the media session, the Floridian promised to retire Pacquiao. The two welterweight stars will collide on July 20 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Following the press conference, Thurman double-downed to us about his confidence coming into the fight: “Come July 20th, I will still be champion and he will still be senator. He will go back to the Philippines and he will still be senator of the Philippines…no longer champion of the world. Manny Pacquiao has lived out his legacy and I’m beginning mine.”
